Do you remember these songs: “stress reliever” and “generation song”? Okay, do you remember the tall strong voiced
female songstress who always appeared in nothing but a fiery red colour? Well
let me jag your memory a bit; she left the scene with her debut album
“passionate matters” about six years ago and has since been incognito. Fluid
met up with and got her to explain the reason for her hiatus.
Abidemi Elizabeth Akinlabi known to the
industry as "Zeal" is this week’s Was Sup Celeb. This very hot 6 foot something
single mum is back but not with music as we would expect but with fashion
designing. When asked why she disappeared she told Fluid the reason was to take
care of her daughter who she popped four years ago and as a mum she wanted
her(the daughter) to get to a certain age and also get comfortable before
returning to the scene.
Presently she is concentrating on building
her fashion business. Urban Demi, her clothing line seeks to blend the African
and international cultures. It’s an Urban African mix for bold and imaginative
people. Though she makes casuals for clients; Urban Demi seeks to carter for
artiste to satisfy that niche market for Artiste styling and fashion for video
concepts (costumes). Urban Demi is
everything but boring; just like the artiste “Zeal” herself. Already her designs have
been adorned by known celebs on red carpets of various events without any
serious advertisement of the brand. The international market is very much in
sight here and like her music; the designs are far from mediocre.
What she said to say to her music fans
is for them to keep their fingers crossed as she is working on her return album;
name withheld and the release date also but one thing for sure is we can’t wait
for her to come back to the music scene. Till next week on Was Sup Celeb from
Fluid’s stables it’s happy weekend.
